Theologian Charles Spurgeon once stated, “when your will is God's will, you will have your will.”
“The object of prayer is not to change the will of God, but to secure for ourselves and for others, blessings that God is already willing to grant, but that are made conditional on our asking for them” (Bible Dictionary, “Prayer”).
Our prayer is that we want to be so aligned with the will and purpose of God that we ask God to empower us to accomplish it.
In doing so, we acknowledge our dependence, not on our own strength, but on the power of God!
